Members joined us at the San Francisco Ballet for a hauntingly beautiful performance of the Gothic masterpiece, Frankenstein! Hailed by The New York Times as a “lavish” production and by The Guardian as “emotionally intense,” the work comes to life under the creative direction of the brilliant British choreographer Liam Scarlett, the youngest choreographer ever to have a full-length ballet commissioned by The Royal Ballet. Staying true to the original story, Scarlett revives the classic story of Frankenstein, creating a riveting account of the tormented creature’s dramatic beginning and sorrowful end. Before the show, we gathered with a great group of IVY members at the SF Ballet Studios to enjoy an exclusive pre-show discussion with a creative representative from the San Francisco Ballet. During the first intermission, we met up with members of ENCORE and San Francisco Ballet’s Young Patrons Group in the Dress Circle North lobby bar for drinks before sitting down to enjoy the next half of the performance.
