Members joined us for an extraordinary IVY Culture Night as three-time Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters made her Auditorium Theatre debut, and her first Chicago appearance in over 10 years, in a thrilling collaboration with the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra. This one-night-only program paid tribute to legendary American composer George Gershwin, featuring a medley of Broadway hits and classics. The Pops, led by conductor Keith Lockhart, gave the world-premiere of a reconstruction of Paul Whiteman’s jazzy version of Gershwin’s “An American in Paris,” in addition to a rarely-heard original orchestration of “Rhapsody in Blue.” This dream pairing set our spirits high with some of the most famed musical scores of Broadway productions, both old and new!
